Oisín comes from a musical family, his grandfather having been a member of the Pro Cathedral’s Palestrina Choir as a boy chorister during the 1910 and 1920 decades. The Palestrina Choir performs an extensive liturgical choral repertoire and Oisin carried on the tradition when he was a member of the choir in the 1990s which included touring work in North America and Canada.
Oisín is regularly to be found participating in traditional Irish music sessions, he is pictured below singing in the legendary O’Donoghues of Merrion Row, home to The Dubliners where he sang for An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny and also for actor Richard Dreyfuss at Dublin’s historic Kilmainham Gaol, Richard Dreyfuss described Oisin’s voice as “huge, brilliant”.
Oisín’s passion for Irish music and culture shines through in his work as an event organiser, and since 2013 he has hosted rich cultural events of Irish music, story and song in unique locations. Click on the link to learn more about each of these.
